John Court is an artist whose work explores our relationship with spaces and our emotional connection to the periods of time which we spend in them.
His activities consist of working in two thematically linked mediums: performace and drawing. All his works develop overlong durations of time and frequently invlove performaces of a minimum of eight hours.
His performances, for example, might last eight hours, and might included elements which refer to the processes used while creating his drawings - which themselves often take 6 months to complete. For example, additional materials used in his performacnes might include paint, pencil leads and shavings, or rubbed erasers (as seen in the picture above).
This site presents examples of his works.
